Travel and tourism add huge value to us and some of the economies that need it most. However it’s clear that there are major challenges and opportunities facing the tourism industry today.
Tourism developments often put the very resources that they rely on at risk. Over-development destroys pristine beaches, rivers and forests. Climate change threatens coral reefs and coastal areas all over the world. Workplace practices and lack of benefits back to the local community can reduce the positive welcome that tourists are looking for.
Sustainable travel and tourism that genuinely rises to these challenges presents strong opportunities.
