Built environment

What we build today will still be here in 50 years, but the world will have changed - perhaps radically. If we’re serious about creating a sustainable future, the construction sector needs to be centre stage.

Whether you are an architect, a client, a regional development agency, a builder, an investor or an industry body, you already know that there are several challenges and opportunities ahead – such as extreme weather events, new regulations, and rapidly evolving user demands.

These drivers are increasing demand for energy efficient buildings, intelligent microgeneration, sustainably sourced raw materials, and buildings and cities that improve our quality of life.

We help the leaders in the sector to seize the opportunity in these areas and pick the effective solutions over the greenwash.

How we work with our partners in the built environment

We give strategic advice to our partners in the construction industry, their clients and investors, and associated industry bodies. The issues we address range from stakeholder and supplier engagement to benchmarking, performance monitoring and reporting and procurement.

We also develop frameworks to guide our public sector partners with planning and development responsibilities and we identify ways for sustainable practices to be rewarded in the market place.

Many of our construction industry partners have benefited from our expertise in The Natural Step.

We're also working with engineers - read about our new Engineers of the 21st Century partnership project.
