Building scenarios for the future

What are scenarios?

Scenarios are well-researched, possible and convincing descriptions of what the future could be like. Usually a set of three or four different scenarios are developed for a particular issue.

Why use scenarios?

Scenarios can be powerful tools.

We develop scenarios to explore possible futures and use them to promote debate, test strategies or stimulate new ideas.

The process of building scenarios is creative and collaborative, and often sparks deeper levels of innovation within the groups and organisations who take part.
