Britain’s rural estates are experiencing a renaissance of innovation and entrepreneurship, which is helping to regenerate rural communities, says this report from Forum for the Future.
For generations Britain’s rural estates have managed our countryside, generated employment, supported the production of food and provided affordable housing. But today such estates face a plethora of new challenges including climate change, a shortage of rural skills and declining farm incomes, which is forcing them to change their ways and develop new business models.
The report, ‘Leading by example: rural estate sustainability’ examines the diverse ways in which estates are overcoming this range of obstacles by incorporating sustainable development into their business plans.
