The Low Carbon Living workshop

We invited a group of friendly enthusiasts to come to an event at The London Living Room to hear more about Low Carbon Living 2022.

Once they’d arrived, had a glass of wine and been told where the fire exits were, we put them to work. We told them to think up some products and services that they thought would be doing well in a low carbon future.

An hour later, and here’s what they came up with…

Silver PaintThis product will revolutionise domestic energy production. A paint, impregnated with solar nanotechnology, that can be used on to any surface - be it your fridge or your entire house.

Jam Solutions “On time, every time”. A service to end your commuting nightmares. Jam solutions coordinates your desired arrival time with the transport system to design your route so that you never get stuck at a red light or in a traffic jam ever again. The increased efficiency of resources, as well as the integrated links to the public transport system and access to a lift share scheme all contribute to lowering both your carbon emissions and your blood pressure.

The White CardThe only reward and incentive card you’ll ever need. The White Card allows you to create a profile describing your current lifestyle and guides you towards a greener, leaner way of life. While you are negotiating the journey between different lifestyles, you can collect rewards in the form of tax rebates or vouchers as you buy green products or reduce your emissions.

Pick me upA taxi service, at bus prices. Simply text your post code, destination and desired arrival time to Pick Me Up and they will match you up with other people in your area wanting to make the same or a similar journey. Using safe, independent and local drivers, the service helps reinforce a sense of community whilst lowering your carbon foot-print.

The Carb CrocodileScience fiction comes to life as motorways are transformed into giant conveyor belts with the Carb Crocodile. Drivers can connect with the crocodile at designated points along major carriage ways and switch their engines off as they are safely and smoothly whizzed around the country on giant car-trains. Traffic jams and emissions are reduced and road safety is greatly improved. You can even make use of the hour or so you’re on the Crocodile by taking a nap or reading a book.

Fan PowerHave you ever wondered what we could do if we could only harness the energy from the crowd at a massive sports event or rock concert? Well look no further. Fan Power is here to make sure all that excitement doesn’t go to waste. Pumps and springs in flip up chairs generate energy every time a spectator stands up, turnstiles at the entrance and exits power the lights and methane from human waste (you know what we mean) powers the tannoy system. The movement of the crowd and the heat they generate is captured using special flooring and innovative air conditioning technology. This is an entertainment stadium that is its own closed loop eco system. The possibilities are endless…
