Low carbon lifestyles could lead to a cleaner, more pleasant local environment in future.
A reduction in the amount of traffic, especially cars, will lead to less pollution on our streets. Vehicles themselves will be less polluting, with electric cars being emission-free and hydrogen-fuelled vehicles emitting water vapour.
A move to greening our cities will improve the local environment. More foliage along roads, around houses, shops and offices, on roofs and in small, new urban farms, encouraged by schemes such as U-Grow, will help to clean the air and support more wildlife.
We'll produce less waste. Products will have less packaging and more products and packaging will be recyclable or easily compostable or biodegradable. That means less litter.
