Peter Madden, Chief Executive
Peter Madden is the Chief Executive of Forum for the Future, leading 70 staff as they find practical ways that private and public organisations can deliver a sustainable future.
For the last 20 years he has been an influential advocate for sustainable development. From 2002 to 2005, he worked as Head of Policy at the Environment Agency, leading teams working on issues such as climate change, green economics and sustainable communities. Prior to that, he was Ministerial Adviser at Defra and DETR, where he advised Ministers and the Prime Minister on environmental issues. Before that, he was Director of the Green Alliance and previous to that, Head of Policy at Christian Aid.
Peter has written widely for the media and published numerous pamphlets and reports. He has previously been a member of the UK Round Table on Sustainable Development and the Board of the European Environment Bureau. He is currently a Board member of Groundwork UK, an environmental regeneration charity.

Ben Tuxworth, Director, Communications
Role: Building capacity for sustainable development: communicating and embedding sustainability principles in organisations. Particular interests in procurement, health and stakeholder engagement.
Background: Ben joined Forum for the Future in 1998 to establish the programme of work with local government. Previous roles include five years work in environmental communications consultancy, then leading the Environment Resource and Information Centre at the University of Westminster, where he delivered advice, training and networking services to local authority sustainability personnel, and founded eg magazine, a key source of news and comment on local sustainability.
His current responsibilities include the overall management of Green Futures magazine; oversight of a new programme of futures work, and a range of stakeholder engagement work with organisations recently including InterfaceFlor, the new UK Green Building Council, Groundwork, and the Isle of Man Government.

Dr Sally Uren, Director, Business Programme
Role: Helping the business community realise the opportunity agenda presented by sustainable development. Sally is particularly interested in helping the retail, construction, transport and financial services sector to tackle sustainability, and demonstrate the competitive advantages of leadership on this agenda for business.
Background: Sally joined Forum's Business Programme in 2002. Since then she's been working with business partners across all sectors get to grips with sustainability, has overseen and contributed to a wide range of research projects - all designed to unlock the links between sustainable development and successful business – and has presented at both national and international conferences.
Sally was appointed by HRH Prince of Wales as an advisor to Duchy Originals, is an independent advisor to The Carbon Neutral Company and is the independent chair of Land Rover’s carbon offset scheme. Sally is a judge on sustainability awards including the Network Rail and IGD foods industry awards. She co-authored Forum’s ground-breaking publication Leader Business, setting out best practice in embedding sustainability into business.
Before joining Forum, Sally founded and directed the Sustainability Group at private consultancy Casella Stanger (now owned by Bureau Veritas). Previous work included a post doctorate research fellowship funded by DfID (then the ODA) in optimal nutrient regimes for encouraging the regeneration of logged rainforest in Borneo and a doctorate from Imperial College, London, on the impacts of nitrogenous deposition on semi natural ecosystems.

Patti Whaley, Director, Resources
Role: Responsible for financial management, information technology, human resources, office management, planning and reporting, and other internal/corporate issues.
Background: Patti worked previously at the International Secretariat of Amnesty International, first as Director of Informational Technology and later as Deputy Secretary General. Before joining AI, she was a systems analyst at Price Waterhouse.
Patti is a qualified chartered accountant and a trustee of the British Institute of Human Rights.
